OVERVIEW
A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. They ensure projects are completed within budget, while maintaining quality standards and compliance with regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies.
- Manage project finances, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Prepare and review contracts, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents.
- Evaluate and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with budgets and timelines.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide advice on cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Ensure adherence to legal, contractual, and health & safety standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, contracts, and procurement.
- Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, AIQS, CIQS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
